GPS成為檢方辦案好幫手

有了GPS後，生活的確方便不少，特別是遇到道路標誌不清或是迷路的時候，而GPS的應用也不僅止於認路，已經有不少罪犯身上被強迫佩帶GPS追蹤裝置，好讓警方監控他們的行蹤，此外，法庭上也越來越常使用GPS裝置作為檢方定罪的證據。

無論是車上的導航系統，或是手機裡的GPS裝置，都能提供被告在案發期間的行蹤資訊，因而成為檢方的重要證據之一，之前便有一個案例，一名男子在家中發生火災時，被發現車子就停在附近，而被人識破其意圖詐領保險金，在另一個案例中，檢方將一名強暴犯車上的導航系統列為證物後，順利的讓該名強暴犯俯首認罪。

雖然目前GPS資訊在法庭上的應用不算普遍，但隨著越來越多人不經意的用手機(或其他導航裝置)紀錄下自己每天的行蹤，相信總有一天，GPS會成為檢方辦案的重要工具之一，當然，也會成為隱私權擁護者關注的焦點。

具有即時路徑重新規劃的TomTom GO x40 LIVE系列發表

在IFA 2008所展示的TomTom GO x40 LIVE系列，現在已經可以看到實機上市了，這次共有3款新機，型號分別為GO 940 LIVE、GO 740 LIVE與GO 540 LIVE，都具有名為「IQ Routes」的智慧型路徑規劃功能（暫譯），簡單說就是依據前方的即時路況與速限等資料（基於TomTom HD Traffic），導航系統會自動重新規劃路徑，即時提供更好的路徑給駕駛使用。

另外，TomTom GO x40 LIVE並與Google合作，可以線上查詢測速照相、油料報價與在地資料，並可與導航系統結合，也有加入語音導航的功能。這個系列目前報價歐元299起跳，即時路況服務的月租費則是10歐元。

Bendix/King's AV8OR is a self-proclaimed handheld Multi-Function Display, which gives pilots "enhanced situational awareness" by providing "real-time satellite weather information, topographic terrain and aeronautical navigation information." You'll also find more traditional GPS capabilities suitable for ground transportation routes, and the 4.3-inch display ought to be large enough for most. 'Course, the $749 price tag will likely keep most non-pilots at bay, but those thinking of picking up an ultralight aircraft probably won't flinch at such a comparatively minute figure.
